The Windsor Terrace campus of Brooklyn Prospect Charter School occupies an entire block with paved areas all around the building.  Despite the generous amount of outdoor space the school lacked an area for students to gather and for teachers to teach classes outdoors.  We worked with the school to develop a phased plan to create a new plaza that includes an educational garden and seating area in front of the school.  Since the area around the building is dominated by paving we incorporated large planting beds into the plaza to form a garden setting.  The garden will be planted with native pollinator plants so that the school can participate in the “Brooklyn Butterfly Project” a greenway connecting Prospect Park to Greenwood Cemetery.
