Hilltop road landscape

Germantown, New York

Our landscape for this house proposed to better integrate an existing house to its site. The owners felt that they seldom wandered far from the house because of the exposed nature of the surrounding landscape. We proposed the creation of a variety of landscape zones of various characters to give the site a more inviting intimacy.  A thick band of planting stretches across the upper site, enveloping the house and screening the auto court.  A new focus of activity is created by grading in a long garden terrace extending out from the existing house with the new pool at its center.  This terrace is located along the crest of the ridge and a lath house centered on the pool is oriented to the view.
